For someone who has a purpose, getting out of bed in the morning is a pleasant break from another day of challenging but worthwhile work.
Signs You Are Wasting Your Life #2 – You engage in pointless things for longer than an hour or two each day.
Some activities lack purpose by nature and are simply carried out because they are enjoyable at the time. Examples of such activities include:
- time spent on social media
- watching movies or TV
- utilizing a video game
These types of activities can play a significant role in decompressing when done in moderation, no more than an hour or two every day. But if you do anything more, you’re not just “decompressing,” you’re “squandering your life.” People with goals avoid spending too much time on these activities because they are conscious of the fact that every hour lost to pointless pursuits is an hour they will never get back. People who spend their days engaged in productive pursuits report feeling exhausted at the end of the day. Purposeful action exhausts all of your energy, whether it be mental or physical, and gets you ready for bed every day.
On the other side, you don’t feel fatigued at the end of the day when you aren’t living life to the fullest. You are really squandering your energy.
Signs You Are Wasting Your Life #4 – You devote more time to planning than to do.
If you spend more time daydreaming, planning plans, or thinking about the future than trying to make that future a reality, you are not making the most of your life.
People that succeed in life don’t spend their time thinking about what may have been. People that are successful choose a future objective and then put up a lot of effort to achieve it. Someone who is constantly daydreaming is not someone who is constantly doing.

Signs You Are Wasting Your Life #5 – You fret about what other people think of you.
High achievers are too busy accomplishing their goals to bother about what other people think of them. High achievers worry about what important people think of them, but not about what their friends, families, or the general public think. They are excessively preoccupied with finishing tasks.
You can be letting your life pass you by if you frequently worry about what people in your friends‘, families’, peers’, or popular culture will think of you. Find a purpose that will keep you true even when the world turns against you rather than following what other people think is right.
